True Calling series

I totally was blown away by this book. It has a different twist on the whole Post Apocalyptic or Dystopian book with a Reality Tv Show called the Calling that begins for kids age 17. This new place Nova where Ariana lives with her family. It has many High tech stuff such as whenever you first come to live there your memories of the people you knew on Earth are erased and you have this deceive called a Vita put into the back of the head like a tracking monitor. The government wants to control all aspects of people's lives and top on their list of priorities is to Multiple and increase the population so the authorities that govern Nova announced: "The Calling" where all the 17 years old children will undergo a pageant which involves several tests to match up 10 potential suitors to each person. They will go on several dates and this all will be broadcast to the general public and they will be able to vote on who their favorite couple is and many other things. All participates must be married before they turn 18 and produce 3 kids before age 22.

Ariana is totally against this forced dating and marriage she wants to enjoy being a part of her Military career not worrying about boys, marriage etcetera. Also, she is having weird dreams about a boy named Zane and she does not know who is he but suspects she knew him back on Earth. She soon starts getting close to a boy named Cal then they turn out to be on each other's list for The Calling, but the government and President Calavero interferes and Cal's father saying that since they were hanging out together before the results came out they rig it somehow. So they make a new rule where one suitor from each person list is changed. The general public is furious with this because they enjoyed Ariana's and Cal's budding romance and had them at the top of the list. So in the end in a political move, they are put back on each other's list.

While all this is going on the man Ariana been dreaming about Zane is on Earth with a group of Rebels who are working against the Novo Government and trying to get Ariana and her family out when her father a high up Commander gets murder on a space mission. Ariana pieces together some stuff and thinks that Zane is her older brother because he was missing from some family photos in reality he was her first boyfriend that she was forced to forget. Things get very bad for Ariana and Cal and they are forced to evacuate Novo with the help of Zane and his companions.

The ending is left in a cliffhanger where Cal is capture while he and Ariana are trying to escape planet Novo after rescuing Zane. She is supposed to give the secret information her father left her to Commander De Luca but she does not know if she can trust anyone in the Resistance that caused her to leave Cal, her Mother, and Sister behind.  To be continued in the second book.
