These questions, plus the ordinary trials and tribulations of high school, divert Anna from noticing some very strange things that are beginning to happen to her. For as long as Anna can remember, she has had a random smattering of freckles on her arm. But these freckles are starting to change, and cause a series of scary hallucinations and odd side effects that only Anna seems to notice. When a strange shadow man starts to haunt her nights, she decides to go on a hunt for the truth to discover, once and for all, what is happening to her.
The hallucinations continue growing stronger, and each visit by the shadow man appears to become more threatening. Eventually, Anna realizes that she can no longer hide from her friends and family what is happening to her. But as she shares her secret with those closest to her, Anna never imagines that her very life, and the lives of those she loves, will be put in jeopardy.
Anna is a girl who wants to go into astrophysics and work at NASA. Her dad was in the military but died in Afghanistan four years ago. She has a younger brother named Michael and her mom works at a restaurant called Charlie's. Anna has these freckles on her arm and just recently she starts getting more of them and they resemble the stars in the sky called The Pleiades the 7 sisters of Greek mythology. She has a friend named Heather and a crush on a guy named Steve McCormick who is is a top athlete. His dad happens to be a biophysicist and works at a Dynasty Research a pharmaceutical company. Anna and Steve both have younger brothers. Michael Anna's brother gets into a bit of trouble during the book and it involves Ben Steve's brother.
Steve and Anna run into each other outside class one day and they drop their books and accidentally took his notebook home with his physics midterm and was nice enough to finish for him he was very grateful to her and ask if she could tutor him. She had a crush on him for a while and is surprised he is even talking to her. After they get their grades back from the test he asks her if she wants to go out and celebrate with him and she agrees. They have a good time even though Anna is nervous around his friends and off again on again GF Jessica.
So Anna gets involved in an astronomy club called Yap at her first stargazing session she meets Jared who claims to go to another HS ask her for help using the telescope. She helps him and starts to get to know him during these times and begins to develop a feeling for him. Yet she does not know he is an alien and also Dr. McCormick's son. She gets so into this Jared guy that she gets mad a Steve and pushes him away because his ex-friend says something that happens to not be true and she does not trust Steve anymore but he is the one person she should be turning to.
One weekend Anna works at a bohemian bouquet. That when she sees Jessica and she lies to Anna about Steve having a party. Steve ask Anna to help him with his physics research paper and she agrees. They meet once it the library and he comes over to her house for her to look over his paper. He asks her to the homecoming dance at first she is confused why he be asking her out she thought he just needed help with physics but she says yes.
Anna starts having nightmares and weird things going on with her arm first she got some kind of skin infection and it went away with medicine. She starts dreaming about her dad and bad things happening to her arm and she notices a shadowy figure in her room and she does not know what it is. Her mom thinks it is sleep paralysis because it causes the body not to be able to move and makes you hallucinate. On homecoming week Anna was excited but upset that Steve and Jennifer were competing in games because they were the nominees for homecoming king and queen. At the Yap club meeting, Jared gave Anna the nickname of Copernicus and gave her his phone number.
Anna wore a costume for superhero day after school she went to go buy jewelry and Jessica showed up talking about Steve and of course spreading lies that he only going out with Anna for help with physics and that he will ditch her to go find Jennifer. Of course like most books Anna believes it without asking Steve about it and gets mad at him and cancels the date with him. In typical emotional stupid teenage girl overanalyzing everything.
Jared tells Anna he going to study law cause it been in his family for generations but past over his father. He also asks her out on a date but she declines. So Anna calls Jared up at the last minute ask Jared to go to homecoming with her. Now she has to break the news to Steve I mean it is partly his fault he should of went after her and tried to explain things to her but he didn't and it did not help later that Jessica kisses Steve after one of the homecoming games.
Anna gets to the dance with Jared and they find out Jessica and Steve went together and won the crowns. Steve looks in their direction trying to figure out who Anna is with he was not happy she came with someone else and he was stuck with Jennifer but he did not try to talk to Anna at all. She and Jared left the dance and he gave her a kiss. Anna noticed the next day that her arm was glowing she did not know what to do so she went to the library and started looking things up on the internet when that failed to help her out she contacted Dr. McCormick and went to see him she showed him her arm but he did not or lied about not seeing it glow.
She also had to go see Dr. Lanken and told him about seeing a shadow man the ran an MRI scan. She went back to school on Monday and avoided Steve and she started having migraines. They found out the test results and nothing is wrong with Anna's brain and said she might have PTSD and prescribe some pills because they think she has a mental problem. At the Yap meeting, Jared ask Anna out and noticed her are glowing but he played it off not telling her he could see it. Anna was at home and caught her brother sneaking into a neighbor's house and stole a music player that belongs to Ben. Anna had a flash of memory of her life before she came to Earth but she does not know this yet she is confused why she just saw these images.
At school, her teacher Mr. Steeler did a problem on the board about calculating how long it takes a ship to orbit Mars from Earth and she told him he got the wrong answer and that his equation was not correct. He was confused about why she thought it was wrong and moved on to her classmates that she was crazy. After school, she had another vision and she almost ran out into traffic if Steve hadn't pulled her back. Later he came to her house to make sure she was all right and she let him come in to talk.
He told her about Ben getting grounded for the pills and it was taken care of but she told him Ben had Michael steal a music player. Then she decided to tell him she overheard Jessica talking about the dance and he said that she lied he never planned on leaving her at the dance. He got upset that Anna thought he just used her to get better grades and he left her house mad. She was not sure he was telling the truth and she believed he and Jessica could not be trusted. Jared and Anna were at Yap and she has another vision and says the name Alby he takes her to Dynasty Research he says he lives there and run into Dr. McCormick and she finds out he is Jared's father.
So Anna, Dr.McCormick, and Jared all come from the same place a planet far away from earth in the Pleiades called Enki. Anna is what they call a Starseed which means she was sent to earth on a mission with no memory of her life before but she was sent away because she saw something she should not have and they planned on leaving her on Earth and not allowing her to return home. Jared gets close to Anna and tells his father that she is seeing the vision and said Alby. She finds out that Jared is not the nice guy he pretends to be he is mean to her. Soon they decide that she become a liability and the doctor wants her killed.
So she is in the lab about to be killed by Jared when Steve enters and helps her escape back home but she cannot stay there. She tells Steve what had with his father and Jared was his brother and he tells her the music player had voice recording on it logs his father made. At Anna's house, she gives Steve her father's gun and they plan to go to the police but the shadowy figure appears and he was the one who activated the markers on her arm. Anna asks the shadow to show her how to go back to Enki. Steve says how can you trust this thing and he apologies for hurting her and he kissed her. She Touched the Shadow and Jared came through the door and she was gone from Earth. She arrived home and saw the people from her visions.
